Dojo Instructor Course

Posted by Eric Boutin on April 11, 2011 at 8:36 AM Comments comments (0)

This past weekend we had 12 people go through a fairly intensive coaching course. Thanks to Andrej Sadej, the sport director of Judo Canada.for being kind enough to run the course for us and thanks to all the participants for a great exchange of ideas.

The course was geared at delivering a program to kids under 13 years old using a fairly flexible approach. It also allowed instructors from different dojos to trade teaching methods and games which made the weekend even more interesting than expected.

Here are the pictures of all the participants with the instructor.

October Throw of the Month

Posted by Eric Boutin on November 3, 2010 at 5:07 PM Comments comments (0)

October was (sorry for not posting earlier) Ashi-Waza month.

These include O-Soto-Gari, O-Uchi-Gari, De-Ashi-Barai, Harai-Tsurikomi-Ashi, etc.

Here is a good video on O-Soto-Gari

They're a lot fun and can be used either as a technique on their own or as an opening for a more spectacular throw.

They are also the the most efficient but hardest to master techniques. Timing is critical. Here is a nice video on foot sweeps.

Toshihiko Koga's Creative Version of Sode Tsuri Komi Goshi

Jigoro Kano's Uki Goshi

A very technical review of Hane Goshi

pt nippon's Harai Goshi
